- The ticks are back, New York! Health officials warn New Yorkers to be vigilant at the start of the tick season. Hundreds of NYC residents are infected with Lyme disease each year by the “creepy, disease-carrying little bloodsuckers,” especially in Staten Island and the northern Bronx. (New York City Patch) Speaking of diseases, an outbreak of legionnaires in the Bronx has now left two people dead and four hospitalized.
- The Homeless Services Department seems to be planning to end the protection measures introduced at the beginning of the pandemic which required the homeless persons over 70 must be placed in single rooms, and persons over 66 in double rooms. Now they can be moved back to congregate settings. (Gothamist)
- State lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow the New York City Public Housing Authority (NYCHA) to raise private funds to pay for repairs by creating a “conservation trust.” It is estimated that NYCHA needs $ 40 billion. Many residents of public housing were against the bill. (THE CITY)
- Two ‘safe injection sites’ in Upper Manhattan – East Harlem and Washington Heights – have been successful in reversing 314 drug overdoses since they first opened in November. However, two subway stations near the sites have become places of visit for drug users after closing time. (New York City Patch)
- Tenants of an apartment building in Crown Heights require their landlord to replace a defective door and elevator. The door, which they say does not lock properly, led to a burglar being robbed and beaten last month. (New York City Patch)

Do you live in New York? looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they would invest $ 100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: art.
Do you think you can not afford a Picasso? In 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed the securitization of works of art. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. Previously, you could only buy shares in companies like Apple, but with this investment app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
That means you can invest in shares of millions of works of art. And in uncertain times, it turns out, art can be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically yields a return of 23.2% when inflation is> 3%
- Prices for contemporary art exceeded the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
