
17-Year Employee of Marion County Sheriff’s Office Arrested For Domestic Battery; Placed On Unpaid Administrative Leave – The Published Reporter®

MARION COUNTY, FL– Yesterday, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested 45-year-old Joshua Sones for Domestic Battery. According to authorities, on Thursday, July 14, 2022, Marion Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance that involved Sones.
An investigation revealed that there was probable cause to arrest Sones for striking the victim with an HDMI cord. Units then made contact with Sones and placed him under arrest. He is currently held at the Marion County Jail without bond.
Sones is a 17-year employee of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, who is currently assigned as a Master Sergeant in the Detention Bureau. Pending the outcome of this case, Sones has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
“It devastates me that one of our own stands accused of domestic violence. As the Sheriff of Marion County, I will always strive to protect and seek justice for every victim, in particular victims of domestic violence. I will continue to hold my employees to the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Anybody found to have violated the laws we have sworn to uphold will be dealt with accordingly and be made to face the consequences of their actions.”
