2024 election updates: Trump says he didn’t hear comedian’s racist comment at rally

The former president has denied knowing the comedian who made a slew of racist, sexist and vulgar comments during his rally at Madison Square Garden, ABC News senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott reports.

This comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, made headlines in part for calling Puerto Rico an “island of floating garbage.”

“I don’t know him, somebody put him up there. I don’t know who he is,” Trump told ABC’s Scott.

Trump also insisted he had not heard any of the comments, even though they were broadcast on television and written about extensively. When asked what he thought, he did not take the opportunity to denounce them, repeating that he had not heard the comments.

His campaign said the comedian’s comments did not reflect the views of Trump or the campaign.

Trump also said he was confident he would win the White House with just a week to go.
