A recent Condé Nast Traveler reader ranking ranked three Chicago hotels among the top 50 in the world, with results compiled from the publication’s 37th annual reader survey.
Taking into consideration everything from luxury amenities to food and unforgettable experiences, more than 575,000 votes were tallied for the 2024 survey, covering accommodation from Newfoundland and Labrador to Canada in Marrakech , in Morocco.
Chicago’s representation on the list was initially the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, ranked 42nd while making its second appearance on the Readers’ Choice list, previously recognized in 2018.
Praised for its proximity to Chicago’s theater scene and Millennium Park, Renaissance also received high marks for its rooftop bar, indoor pool, and majestic art installations.
Just a block from the Chicago River, the hotel also offers plush bedding and upgraded bathrooms with Netflix access from guests’ in-room TVs.
The 13th-ranked Godfrey Hotel Chicago makes its third Condé Nast reader favorite appearance.
The River North spot has been praised for its marble lobby and contrasting textiles in the lobby and guest rooms. The 10,000 square foot rooftop space has also been named as a big draw for The Godfrey.
Just above the Godfrey, at number 12, is Le Méridien Essex Chicago, making its first-ever reader-favorite appearance.
Praised for its stunning views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan, this 14-story hotel located directly across from Grant Park leaves guests connected to all the city has to offer.
The hotel’s 274 rooms feature niceties like hidden speakers in the bathroom and custom bathrobes to Peloton bikes equipped with Hulu and Netflix.
An on-site restaurant offers a new American menu, while the SX Sky Bar offers guests floor-to-ceiling views of Grant Park.
Although Chicago hotels aren’t named at the very top of the list, here’s a look at this year’s top five hotels as voted for by Condé Nast readers:
