35-year-old man shot dead outside Hell’s Kitchen building

A 35-year-old man was fatally shot outside a Hell’s Kitchen building in Manhattan early Saturday, police said.

Officers called to W. 49th Street near Ninth Avenue just before 3 a.m. found the victim sprawled on the ground.

He was shot twice in the chest and body, but was conscious when first responders arrived, police said.

Paramedics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he died a short time later. His name was not immediately released as police traced his relatives.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately released and no arrests were made, police said.

On Saturday, police were canvassing the area for surveillance footage that could help them identify the shooter.

Detectives have seen a 66 percent increase in homicides in this section of Midtown Manhattan — protected by cops from the Midtown North Precinct — this year, according to NYPD statistics.

As of Sunday, police had investigated five murders in the area, two more than the same time last year, officials said.

Murders fell 4 percent citywide, to 370 from 387 last year, police said.
