Woman who died in van crash identified

A North Staffordshire woman who died in a crash has been identified. Passenger Doreen Brough was airlifted to hospital after the collision involving a single vehicle and a Peugeot Partner van in Colwyn Bay.

The 77-year-old, of Blythe Bridge Road, Caverswall, lost her fight for life a day later on July 4. An inquest has now been opened into her death at North, East and Mid Wales Coroners Court.




Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash on Conway Road at around 1pm on July 3. An air ambulance landed at the scene.

A male driver, also aged in his 60s, was also taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance. His condition was described as stable.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.06pm to reports of a single vehicle incident on Conway Road, Colwyn Bay. Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from WAST, Helimed and NWFRS.”

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
