The former prime minister posted a photo of the politicians on X as fears grow over the future of the war if the US withdraws funding.
Boris Johnson met Donald Trump to discuss the situation in Ukraine “at length”.
Mr Johnson became the latest former British prime minister to travel to the US for the Republican National Convention this week, after Liz Truss arrived in Milwaukee on Monday.
But unlike his successor, he confirmed he had a face-to-face meeting with the presidential candidate, which Sky News said lasted around 30 minutes.
The former conservative leader posted a photo of the couple on X and issued a statement, saying Trump was “in superb shape after the horrific assassination attempt.”
He added: “I noted the courage, resilience and indomitability with which he responded.”
But the main topic of discussion was the war in Ukraine, a central issue of Mr Johnson’s time in office as he won support from international partners for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
After Trump’s running mate for the election was announced last night – 39-year-old Ohio Senator JD Vance – fears have grown that if he wins the November election, Funding for war effort against Russia could be at risk.
But in his statement, the former prime minister said: “We discussed Ukraine at length and I know he will provide the strong and decisive leadership needed to protect democracy from aggression.”
