Firefighters are battling a large brush fire that broke out in San Jacinto on Sunday.

The fire, called the Record Fire, was first reported at 2:15 p.m. near Soboba Road and Gilman Springs Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

It was initially reported as a five-acre fire, but as of 7:30 p.m., firefighters said it had been mapped to 650 acres and was 0% contained.

As a result, evacuation warnings have been issued for Poppet Flats 1, 2, 3 and 4 RV parks. That area includes the Silent Valley Club RV Park, which is north of Wolf Road, west of Partridge Street and Hungry Hollow Road, south of Old Idyllwild Road and east of Gubner, fire officials said. More information on the evacuations can be found here.

A drop-in and care center has been opened at Nicolet High School in Banning. It is located at 101 E. Nicolet Street.

Ground units and water-dropping aircraft participated in the battle.

No structures are reported as being threatened.

“As a precautionary measure, six firefighters were transported to area hospitals with minor medical symptoms,” the fire department said.

Late Sunday, Cal Fire officers reported that the fire appeared to be human-caused, but did not provide further information.
