Fired GMA Meteorologist Rob Marciano Set to Make Return to CBS News

Rob Marciano, the meteorologist who was fired by ABC News earlier this year following an angry outburst toward a Hello America producer, has been hired by CBS News, according to a report.

Reports released in late April indicated that veteran meteorologist and former GMY A regular was fired following complaints about his behavior. Now, according to Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter, Marciano has been captured by CBS News as part of its expanding Weather Network.

Marciano enjoyed a good relationship with Wendy Fisher, the former ABC News executive who ran the network’s newsgathering operations, who now runs CBS News’ weather operations, according to Status. It is unclear when Marciano will return to the airwaves.

The Daily Beast has contacted CBS News for comment.

At the time of Marciano’s departure from ABC, sources claimed his departure followed multiple complaints from network staff regarding his behavior. Two insiders told The Daily Beast that Marciano got into a “heated shouting match” with a GMA producer, an event that was considered “the straw that broke the camel’s back” within the network.

He was previously “banned” from the morning show’s studio in 2022 after making a colleague uncomfortable, according to Page Six. The outlet cited a source writing that Marciano was struggling with anger management issues while going through a divorce at the time, adding that there had been “a number of alarming events.

After Marciano was shown the door by ABC News, The Daily Beast learned that Marciano was taken off the air for at least a month in 2022 and forced to take anger management classes after allegedly making inappropriate remarks to a producer.

Several of his colleagues, however, found his dismissal “unexpected”, according to Peoplewith a source telling the magazine that Marciano’s negative coverage looked like a “hit.” Another person who worked with Marciano at CNN said he was “great” and that “no one took care of the team on the field better than him.”
