‘It’s a shame’: Beachgoer’s car submerged by tide

The Coastguard has advised against driving on beaches after a vehicle was submerged in Cleethorpes.

A spokesperson for Her Majesty’s Coastguard said they were called to reports of a 4×4 and two jet skis stranded at the Lincolnshire seaside resort at around 11.15am BST on Saturday.

The SUV is believed to have become stranded on Sunday evening, although the jet skis have since been recovered.

No one was injured and the owner of the vehicle was in contact with the council to arrange its recovery, the official said.
