More than 50,000 runners will take to the streets Sunday for the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. But before hitting the pavement, they’ll need to collect their packages and maybe buy a few gifts along the way.
The Abbott Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago begins Thursday. The event not only serves to collect participants’ packages and bags, but also offers runners – and the public – the opportunity to browse race vendors, pick up Chicago Marathon giveaways and much more.
When is the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo?
Thursday October 10
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday October 11
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday October 12
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What do participants’ packets and bags contain?
Participant package items include:
- Bib number* and safety pins
- MYLAPS ThinTag Timing Device
- Equipment control label
- Participating Nike running jersey
- Participants bag
*Registered participants aged 21 and over will receive a tag on their bib number redeemable for a beer after the race.
Runners will also be offered a commemorative sticker that can be added to bibs in tribute to late world record holder Kelvin Kiptum, who won the 2023 race just months before dying in a car crash.
What else is at the exhibition?
According to organizers, the exhibition will bring together more than 160 exhibitors offering products as well as new running shoes, clothing, nutrition and technology.
The three-day Expo is free and open to the public.
