A Colorado Parks and Wildlife agency could easily hold its own after spotting a rotund figure on surveillance cameras.
A hibernating “thicc boi” black bear spotted near Durango, Colorado by the state’s Southwest Parks and Wildlife Division has gone viral online for its stunning build.
“We thought we had seen some really big Durango bears before. But this one takes the cake. He probably ate the cake too. Every cake,” the wildlife agency wrote on X.
“Really need to know how much this black bear thinks he needs to eat before finding a den this year? » he wrote on a post featuring video of the big black bear doing what it does best: eating.
Durango is a small municipality located about 200 miles from Denver and closest to the state’s border with New Mexico.
As the winter season approaches, bears go into hyperphagia, a natural behavior that causes mammals to eat and drink almost constantly in the fall in preparation for hibernation.
In total, black bears consume about 20,000 calories per day during hyperphagia and continue to do so until food sources dwindle in early November as they enter their dens for the winter.
“When he sits, how does he not turn around? » asked the state agency.
A bear’s “absolute unit” joins the ranks of viral animals highlighted for their bizarre physiques, including a mouse packing a little more than cheese into its caboose spotted in Utah last week.
