The NBA world was concerned about one of its former players, Kyle Singler, who posted a cryptic video on Instagram saying he feared for his life.
Singler, who starred at Duke before playing six seasons in the NBA, was shirtless in the video he posted while speaking slowly.
“I was abused and abused, neglected, made into a mental example,” Singler said. “And I’m afraid for my life every day. And people in my community make me out to be someone who’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m just trying to be helpful.

“I feel like I have a certain sense of self, strength and purpose that isn’t valued or treated properly.”
Several NBA players commented on the video, which was cut off after about 90 seconds.

“I love you Kyle. Hit me whenever you want. Please,” said Kevin Love of the Miami Heat.
“You’re not alone bro! I’m here for you,” said Andre Drummond of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Isaiah Thomas added, “Here for you bro! Always and forever.”
Love also posted on social media, imploring people to help Singler.

“To everyone who spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he touched, please shower him with the love and support he needs and deserves. I wouldn’t be who I am today without him I am forever indebted to him and I love him the NBA family, the Duke BB family and the South Medford community – let’s come forward for one of our own,” Love wrote.
Singler was a second-round draft pick out of Duke in 2011 by the Detroit Pistons, where he spent his first two seasons before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2014-15 campaign.
Singler spent the next three full seasons there and hasn’t played in an NBA game since the 2017-18 season.
