Amy Adams Troubled After Drew Barrymore Explains the Meaning of Netflix and Chill: ‘Oh, You Guys!’

You learn something new every day. In this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Amy Adams became confused after host Drew Barrymore explained the true meaning of “Netflix and chill.”

The actress appeared alongside director Marielle Heller to promote their new film Night female dog — and at the end of their interview, Barrymore brought out three adorable puppies who carried questions for each of the three women on stage.

Adams, who has a 14-year-old daughter, had to answer what she and her husband like to do after everyone is in bed.

“I’m a big Netflix girl and kind of cool. I like to relax,” Adams replied, before Barrymore informed him, “You know, ‘chill’ means [sex].”

Confused, Adams asked, “Oh, is that true?” Oh no, I said that. Oh, you guys! I think it means something I didn’t know it meant,” to which Barrymore responded, “Because we’re from the ’80s and ’90s, where chill meant chill out. »

Not long ago, Barrymore learned this information herself. During an October 2020 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the beloved talk show host explained how she discovered the true meaning of “Netflix and chill” for her virtual audience.

“I’ll tell you what I did last night. I did one of my favorite things in the world. I watched an episode of Friday Night Lights and I ate a giant bowl of carbs,” she said. “So I guess last night what I can say is I did ‘Netflix and chow.’ Because I said I had Netflix and then I relaxed to find out I didn’t know what I was talking about. Does anyone know what Netflix and chill actually mean?

As she said in today’s episode, “chilling” meant “relaxing” to anyone who grew up in the ’80s — but today’s generation has given the term a whole new meaning.

“Well, now it turns out that relaxing is something completely different. It’s when someone comes over and you do everything but relax,” she said. “So here I am bragging, like, ‘I’m Netflixing and chilling.’ And relaxing isn’t the same anymore, so I’m going to call it Netflix and chow.
