Palo Alto police have confirmed that the case of a man found dead in a downtown parking lot Thursday was a homicide, according to a department news release.
Police said the victim was in his 60s and appeared to be homeless. An autopsy conducted Friday confirmed the man died from blunt force head trauma, authorities said in a news release Monday.
Authorities have not identified a suspect or possible motive.
A passerby reported the death to police around 12:15 p.m. Thursday after finding the man on the first floor of a municipal parking garage on the 400 block of Bryant Street.
Police said evidence found at the scene suggested the death was suspicious in nature. A police dog searched the area for additional evidence and potential suspects.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the death and will release any additional information in the future as the case develops.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
