A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed following a car crash in Middleton on Monday evening (July 29). Police and paramedics were called to Rochdale Road at around 8.30pm to reports of the road accident.
Upon arrival, emergency services found a man with stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses described how horrified residents rushed to try to help the victims after the collision, which they said happened after a car was “pursued” and the victim was then attacked.

A local resident, who requested anonymity, said: “A friend of mine heard the sound of the crash and rushed outside. They were throwing towels and sheets at him to stop the bleeding before the police arrived.
“The black car crashed and he [the driver] He tried to run away, then someone got out of the white Golf that was chasing him and did to him what they did to him.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. The crash was reported near the Hollin Lane junction, which was closed late on Monday evening as part of investigations.
A GMP spokesperson said: “We were called to Rochdale Road in Middleton, Rochdale at around 8.30pm this evening to initial reports of a road traffic collision.
“Officers arrived to find a man suffering from knife wounds. He is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. A crime scene remains at the scene as investigators continue to conduct their inquiries.”
