It’s a May-December relationship.
Holland Taylor, 81, recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, where she opened up about her relationship with partner Sarah Paulson, 49.
The two actresses have been romantically linked for almost a decade, since 2015.
“We have a tremendous resonance. We are interested in a lot of the same things and yet we share great differences,” Taylor said.
“I mean, there’s a big generation gap between us, which worries me for her. But she, you know, what can I do?”
Taylor, who won an Emmy for ABC’s “The Practice” and is also known for “Two and a Half Men” and “The Truman Show,” said of Paulson: “A lot of the things that she’s going through that are very emotional and important to her right now, I went through, you know, 40 years ago, 30 years ago.”
Taylor added: “And when she recalls them in my mind, I’m like, ‘Oh, sure, that’s hard. Of course, that’s hard,’ or ‘Of course, that’s great. Of course, that’s important to her.'”
Taylor added that their age difference wasn’t so bad, as she found “joy” in seeing Paulson win her first Tony this year for “Appropriate” and “all the awards she’s won.”
Paulson won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
“I think she won every award possible. It was so exciting to see that joy,” Taylor said.
Despite their long-term relationship, Taylor revealed that they will probably never get married.
“I don’t think so. We’ve never talked about it with any interest. It doesn’t seem to have the same meaning for us as it does for many people.”
Additionally, she previously told the “Smartless” podcast that the couple “do not live together.”
“It’s kind of a secret,” she said of their successful romance.
In 2023, Taylor also told Page Six that she believes their differences help keep the spark alive.
“I think we’re all on our own paths, so we’re not exactly the same,” she said at the time.
“We do some things separately so we can each be true to our beliefs,” she continued. “She’s a lot more outgoing and I like to spend some time alone, so I do that. She spends time with friends and not with me, so it’s a good balance.”
One of their separate interests is the show “Real Housewives,” which Paulson watches, Taylor told Cohen.
“I often come across [Paulson] hunched over her iPad, you know, eating popcorn as a guilty pleasure while watching all the Housewives shows,” she told the Bravo host.
“I mean, I can’t believe how much you do this,” she added. “Yeah, of course, I’m engrossed when she’s watching… I think she’s watching old videos over there. She’s obsessed.”
