Anita Rose: Police investigating death of woman found unconscious release new photo and route | UK News

Police investigating the suspected murder of a woman found unconscious near a railway track have released a new photo of her.

Anita Rose, 57, was walking her springer spaniel in Brantham, Suffolk, at around 5am last Wednesday.

The mother-of-six was then taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries after being found by a member of the public at around 6.25am on a track near Rectory Lane.

She died on Sunday.

Authorities, who are urging local residents to “remain vigilant”, have also released a map of the route she took.

They plan to do a ‘birthday check in the Rectory Lane area’ on Wednesday 31 July.

On Saturday, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and then rearrested on suspicion of murder.

On the same day, a 37-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen goods “in connection with the incident”, police said.

Both men were released on bail until October 25.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information as they try to locate Ms Rose’s pink zip-up jacket, which they believe she was wearing just before the incident.

Officers are conducting house-to-house inquiries, searching the premises where Ms Rose was found and examining CCTV cameras.

“If people are afraid to go out for a walk, I would advise them to remain vigilant,” said Detective Superintendent Mike Brown of Suffolk Police’s Major Investigation Team.

“Tell someone where you are going, what time you expect to be back, and let them know when you will be home.”

He added: “We recognise that many people are concerned, but I can assure you that we are working hard to identify what happened and this investigation is a priority for the police.”
