Ant-Man 3’s MODOK Live-Action Design Potentially Revealed In MCU Fan Art

New Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art potentially reveals Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s MODOK live-action design based on SDCC footage.

After learning of his inclusion in the film, the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s MODOK live-action design has seemingly been revealed. Exact plot details for the Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel are currently under wraps, though the film is said to follow Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s titular heroes as they go on an adventure through the Quantum Realm. Ant-Man and the Wasp, along with the latter’s parents Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, will find themselves pitted against the powerful, time-traveling enemy known as Kang the Conqueror.

Alongside Rudd and Lilly, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will feature the MCU returns of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, a variant of his Loki role, Michael Douglas as Hank and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet. The film will also mark the MCU debuts of Kathryn Newton as Scott’s daughter Cassie, who has acquired a suit similar to Ant-Man’s, and Bill Murray in an undisclosed villain role. Theories continue to swirl regarding Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s story, namely the inclusion of one iconic comic book villain, and now audiences may be getting the first look at their arrival.

Following first footage of the film screened at San Diego Comic-Con, artist Pranesh Kumar took to Instagram with new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania fan art. In response to a comment on his post, Kumar notes that while the MODOK live-action design seen in the art is “fan art,” he based it on a sketch from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s SDCC footage reel, during which Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed he appeared, which in turn led to some theorizing Bill Murray had been cast. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, MODOK was a man who worked for the arms-dealing organization Advanced Idea Mechanics, better known as A.I.M., who underwent a variety of medical experiments to increase his intelligence, turning him into the large-headed figure using a hoverchair for mobility. MODOK has gone on to act as a recurring antagonist throughout Marvel Comics, including Captain America, Ms. Marvel and Gwenpool.

Though the MCU fan art hasn’t been confirmed to be MODOK’s official live-action design in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, many have taken to social media to express their disappointment in the iconic villain’s appearance, making comparisons to everything from the Bionicle action figures to a Transformer and George Lopez’s Mr. Electric from The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Given the actual trailer for the MCU threequel has yet to be released, and the film is still six months away, it seems possible that should the live-action MODOK design be real that Marvel could change it to better appease fans, much in the same vein as Sonic the Hedgehog. Audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled for a proper MODOK reveal in the lead up to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s February 17, 2023 release.
