Arkansas Black Friday mall shooting leaves 2 injured

Gunfire erupted at Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Black Friday, leaving two people injured, police said in a statement Friday evening.

The Little Rock Police Department initially reported three injuries.

The shooting happened at 1:44 p.m., according to police.

Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including one from a gunshot, police said.

“Initially reported as a potential active assailant situation, officers quickly determined this was an isolated incident upon arrival,” the Little Rock Police Department said in an update Friday evening.

Police said the incident appears to stem from a “disturbance” between two individuals, which escalated into gunfire.

An investigation into the shooting is underway.

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. issued a statement after the shooting Friday.

“Today, two individuals endangered the lives and safety of residents and visitors,” Scott Jr. said.

“We pray for the victims of this incident and hope that they make a full recovery,” he added.
