BERKELEY — Authorities announced an arrest Thursday in Berkeley’s second homicide of the year.
The suspect, identified as Steve Addison, was taken into custody Thursday in North Oakland, according to the Berkeley Police Department. He was booked into the city jail on a murder warrant without bail.
Police said the homicide happened July 3 in the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Officers arrived on scene and found one person dead from what was later determined to be a gunshot wound.
The motive for the murder was not released Thursday.
“Addison’s arrest helps make our community safer and we do not believe there are any other suspects outstanding in connection with this case,” police said in a community message.
