BBC star John Hunt makes tragic six-word plea as he claims his remaining daughter

BBC racing commentator John Hunt has delivered a poignant message after the tragic loss of his wife and two daughters in a devastating crossbow attack, urging everyone to “make the most of every day”.

Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were tragically killed at their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9. Kyle Clifford, 26, from Enfield, north London, was arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of triple murder and is currently in hospital with injuries, Hertfordshire Police said.

Following the tragedy, fellow sports commentator Matt Chapman relayed a heartfelt message from Mr Hunt, mentioning that a fundraising initiative had been set up to support his surviving daughter, Amy.

Speaking to the BBC, Matt said: “Family means more to some than others and for John, his family unit was something he absolutely adored. He said to me: ‘Matty, the message I would like to give to everyone is that you never know when it’s going to be the last day you see your family.

“The message was very clear: enjoy every day because you just don’t know,” reports the Express.

Matt also explained that Mr Hunt’s main wish was to ensure a financially secure future for his daughter Amy. He said: “There are a lot of people, myself included, who feel helpless and would like to do something.”

“John wants nothing more for Amy after these horrible events than for life to be a little less stressful, because life will never be stress-free again. It’s not going to take away their grief, or their pain, or change anything, but it might help them have an easier life.”

More than £28,000 has already been raised since the fundraiser was launched. John and Amy shared a joint statement on Saturday, expressing their gratitude to the public for the words of encouragement during what they described as “an extremely difficult time”.
