Rescue teams searching for missing British teenager Jay Slater have found a body in Tenerife.
The Civil Guard and mountain rescue services issued a joint statement on Monday saying “the evidence strongly suggests” the remains were those of the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire.
They added that initial investigations “reveal he may have been the victim of an accident/fall”, but that police were awaiting the results of an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
The charity LBT Global, which works with British families of people missing abroad, said a body had been found along with Slater’s belongings, close to the last known location of his mobile phone, in the mountainous Teno Rural National Park.
The charity said: “LBT Global is saddened to announce that an organisation
