The incident happened at the Forest Hills MBTA station Thursday evening.
An incident involving a stolen vehicle at the Forest Hills MBTA station left a Boston police officer injured and a suspect shot dead Thursday night, authorities said.
The suspect is in critical condition and the officer is in stable condition, according to a statement from Commissioner William Cox.
Cox said officers arrived at the station around 7:45 p.m. to investigate reports of a stolen motor vehicle.
“As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect operating the motor vehicle struck the officer,” Cox said. “The officer discharged his weapon, striking the driver of the motor vehicle.”
Boston paramedics arrived at the station, transporting the officer and suspect to two separate medical facilities. Cox said the incident is being investigated by the BPD Firearms Discharge Team and the Suffolk County Prosecutor’s Office.
Streets surrounding the Forest Hills station, particularly Hyde Park Avenue between Ukraine Way and Arborway, will remain blocked for the next several hours as police begin their investigative work, Cox said Thursday night.
“We wish everyone involved and everyone who has been affected by this situation a speedy recovery,” Cox said.
