Bravo Fires OG ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast in Favor of New SUR-Verses for Season 12

Bravo Fires OG ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast in Favor of New SUR-Verses for Season 12

Out with the old and in with the new. Bravo announced today that Vanderpump Rules will return for season 12 – but with an all-new cast.

The next season will feature Lisa Vanderpump and the next generation of her SUR employees (also known as SUR-vers), who are “as complicated with each other as their iconic predecessors,” according to a press release provided to DECIDE.

Production on the new season is expected to begin next year, with casting and premiere date to be announced later.

“What a pleasure to build on the legacy of this series by starting it again” Vanderpump Rules said executive producer Alex Baskin in the release. “With a deep appreciation for the original group and their iconic journey, we can’t wait for audiences to see a dynamic new group of colleagues and friends navigate their way through life together.”

Vanderpump added: “The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary stretch full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can never thank those who shared their lives enough. How I love you all. In the restaurant industry, one gear shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”

Bravo also plans to close the current chapter with a special retrospective celebrating the past 11 seasons of the Emmy-nominated reality series.

Lala Kent, who joined the show in season 4, revealed she had “mixed feelings” in an Instagram post following the news.

“It’s no secret that I don’t like change. This is the exception,” she wrote. “I want to thank you for performing with us for so many years. This show changed my entire life. I am incredibly grateful for every moment. I am incredibly grateful to Bravo, to NBCU, to our crew, the entire cast, and most importantly, all of you. We shook this bitch until the wheels fell off.

The decision doesn’t really come as a surprise since the network announced earlier this year that the show was being put on hiatus to allow the group to decompress after Scandoval.

After Tom Sandoval was caught cheating on Ariana Madix with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss in 2023, the once-close group of friends was irreparably damaged. Things became even more contentious among the cast when Kent criticized Madix for refusing to film with Sandoval in season 11.

While Vanderpump Rules won’t return with the cast we’ve grown to love over the past 11 years, it’s likely we’ll still get a glimpse of Scheana Shay and Kent in the show’s spinoff. The Valley.

In the meantime, someone should go see Scheana.
