Car hits ‘fairly loaded’ school bus carrying Lakota Local School District students

Students riding a Lakota Local School District bus were involved in a crash in West Chester Township Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m., the “fairly loaded” bus was struck by a car at the intersection of Tylersville Road and Ohio 747, according to township spokeswoman Barb Wilson, who added that the intersection was “very frequented”.

No one on the bus was injured. Two people were in the other vehicle and both refused medical treatment.

The students came from Lakota Plains Junior School, which serves seventh and eighth graders from Liberty Township, Wilson said.

Officials briefly closed Ohio 747 in Tylersville, but the intersection is now open.

The district notified the families of the accident and shortly after, the students were put on another bus and returned home.
