Authorities responded to a shooting at a north Georgia high school Wednesday morning. A suspect was taken into custody, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed.

Casualties were reported, but details on the number of people injured and their conditions were not immediately available, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said.

Administrators had previously placed students and teachers in quarantine after reports of a possible active shooter spread online at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia, about an hour’s drive from Atlanta. The school evacuated the facility within an hour, the school said, and students were released to their families.

A heavy police presence was seen on the school grounds Wednesday morning, CBS affiliate WANF reported, around 11 a.m. ET. Aerial footage from the news station showed dozens of ambulances, police officers and a medical helicopter gathered in the parking lot and on the green field outside the building. By that time, at least one person had been transferred to the helicopter on a stretcher and students had been evacuated to the school stadium, where buses were expected to pick them up, according to WANF. FBI agents were also called to the scene.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp addressed the situation in a statement shared on social media around noon, saying his office had mobilized state resources to help respond to what he described as an “incident at Apalachee High School.”

“I have mobilized all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and I urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state,” Kemp said. Barrow County includes Winder.
