Charity that helped Jay Slater’s family supports mother of missing Wigan man Benjamin Ross in Majorca

A charity that helped Jay Slater’s family is now supporting the mother of a Wigan man who went missing in Majorca.

LBT Global, which provides overseas emergency support to families of missing people, has launched a new appeal over the disappearance of Benjamin Ross, who has not been heard from since he was last seen in Palma on July 10.

The charity has also provided ongoing support to the family of teenager Jay Slater, who was found dead four weeks after he went missing in Tenerife, with his boss now pledging to track down internet sleuths who abused them online.

Budding lawyer Ben, 26, from Golborne in Wigan, went missing on the Spanish island of Majorca and has not been heard from for almost a fortnight.

The 26-year-old had been living in a shared flat in Palma, the capital of the popular tourist destination, while he tried to find work. He has not been heard from for almost two weeks, after cutting ties with his mother Felix. He had gone abroad on a dream holiday in June to visit a friend, before extending his stay and finding temporary accommodation.

LBT Global has since launched a direct online appeal and urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them or local police.

It read: “Benjamin Ross, 26, travelled to Palma to stay with a friend. He decided to extend his stay and try to find work. Benjamin was last known to be in an apartment in Baron de Santa Maria del Sepulcro around 10 July 2024. He has not been seen since and has made no contact.

“Benjamin is considered vulnerable and we ask that if you see Benjamin, you DO NOT APPROACH him, but contact LBT Global and the information will be passed on to the appropriate authorities.

“Benjamin is 5’10” and has an athletic build. He has brown eyes and short, wavy brown hair on top. He has a scar on his chin. Benjamin’s family is extremely concerned for his well-being. Do you have any information? All information will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities.”

Ben’s heartbroken mother Felix has since revealed she flew to the Spanish island, landing on Saturday night (July 20) to begin a “door-to-door” and “on-the-ground” search of the area where he was staying.

Felix has since claimed she began her own search because Interpol “didn’t have the report” of her son’s disappearance and she had to report it to local police and begin her own investigations.

Speaking from Palma, Felix said: “It doesn’t seem real. I’ve followed the procedure on the government website and begged them to help me but I haven’t gotten anywhere. I’m very worried about him at the moment.

“I can’t really express what I feel. My son is still my son, no matter how old he is. He’s only 26 and I’m worried sick.”

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help Felix pay for his accommodation, flights and food while he is in Mallorca. His friend Carla described the costs as “astronomical” given the peak summer holiday season.

A few weeks after Ben’s trip to Mallorca, his mother Felix said she learned he had decided to extend his trip and find temporary work. All his belongings, including his wallet, phone and keys, had been stolen while he was swimming at the beach.

He then cut off all contact with Felix, which worries her about his mental state. She has not been able to get in touch with Ben since July 10.
