Chicago hit by burglaries, break-ins, police say

Two Northwest Side retail stores were burglarized within 20 minutes of each other Sunday night, according to Chicago police.

The first burglary occurred in the 3400 block of West Addison Street around 8:35 p.m. The second burglary occurred in the 3600 block of West Montrose Avenue around 8:55 p.m.

In both cases, two unidentified men entered the store and demanded money from the clerks. One of them was armed with a handgun. When the clerks complied, the men fled.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made in either burglaries. Area Five detectives are investigating both.

Meanwhile, two retail stores located in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue were burglarized around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to Chicago police.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered that the windows of both stores had been broken.

Merchandise was reported on the floor of one store, and officers said the suspects fled the other store with miscellaneous merchandise in two waiting vehicles: a silver sedan and a black sedan.

According to surveillance footage obtained by ABC 7 Eyewitness News, the Mr. Vape and Smoke store was one of the burglars. The store was the victim of another burglary last Tuesday.
