Chiefs remain undefeated with blocked FG in wild win over Broncos

The Chiefs are like John Wick.

You just can’t let go of them.

The undefeated back-to-back Super Bowl champions blocked Denver’s potential game-winning field goal to escape with a 16-14 home victory over the Broncos on Sunday.

Denver (5-5) drove the field in the final minutes to set up a 35-yard field goal with one second left that could have sent the Chiefs (9-0) to their first loss.

Instead, the Chiefs crossed the line and knocked back Wil Lutz’s onside kick.

This continues the theme of the Chiefs continually escaping with victories in their three-peat quest.

Kansas City won 27-20 against the Ravens on opening night after tight end Isaiah Probably didn’t put his foot on the ground on a late touchdown that would have made it a one-score game.

The Ravens planned to make it two, but fell short by inches.

The following week, Harrison Butker kicked a field goal to defeat the rival Bengals, 26-25.

Kansas City needed overtime last week to defeat the Buccaneers, 30-24.

Tampa Bay tied the game late, but chose not to score two, and the Chiefs did what the world expected after winning the coin toss.

Kareem Hunt scored from two yards out to earn the win.

Denver had a good shot to win on Sunday, limiting the Chiefs to just 300 total yards. Hunt only had 35 rushing yards, while he also led the team with 65 receiving yards.

The Chiefs are now 9-0. P.A.

Travis Kelce made history with his girlfriend Taylor Swift in attendance with a touchdown, which tied him for the most by a tight end in team history, but the Broncos relatively held him in failure with eight catches for 64 yards.

Rookie quarterback Bo Nix did his part, throwing for 215 yards and scoring two scores and putting his team in position to win.

But Nix and the Broncos learned the hard way that the Chiefs aren’t dying.

A road trip to Buffalo (7-2) to face the AFC East-leading Bills is next up, with the Chiefs now more than halfway to a perfect regular season.
