BEIJING (Reuters) – China renewed its warnings to the European Union that if the bloc held separate negotiations with electric vehicle makers during its negotiations with China, it would “shake mutual trust” and interfere with the negotiations global, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.
The ministry issued a similar warning earlier this month, but the reiteration comes days after China and the EU agreed to continue technical negotiations on possible alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
Both sides clarified that price commitments would remain the solution to the dispute, and the ministry said the next phase of consultations had begun.
Beijing said last Friday that it “welcomed the EU team to come to China as soon as possible.”
