The family of a 40-year-old man who died after suffering from muscle wasting for years has revealed that the heartbreakers are planning his funeral just two years after his wedding.
After being diagnosed with the condition when he was 13, Colin Wynn lived his life with the debilitating condition that causes your muscles to shut down.
After meeting his wife Carole, 44, the couple lived peacefully for nine years before Colin worsened and eventually suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on November 3rd.

‘Colin has just moved on’
In a speech to MyLondon, Carole’s cousin Christina Wynn, 37, revealed the struggles the couple endured in the final years of Colin’s life.
She said: “The disease is a muscle deterioration. It can affect you when you do things like shave or pick up a cup – most people who have it end up being chaired.
“It affects all their muscles and their backs, and they can not walk. They can do nothing.
“The last year or two of their marriage saw him deteriorate a lot.
“Carole was his full-time career, she dressed him up, washed him, cooked for him, gave him her tablets – she did everything.
“We wanted to visit them and it was clear how hard it was. He was the kind of person who just wanted to get on with it.
“There’s not enough awareness about muscle wasting at the moment. People know about things like cancer, but if I say muscle wasting, people look confused.”
‘Carole had to give up her job to look after him’
The tragedy of a condition like muscular dystrophy is that the symptoms continue to worsen over time.
As Colin’s health deteriorated, the couple was hit by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced them to isolate themselves during many of the last months of Colin’s life.
This, confirms Christina, was incredibly hard for the active couple and Carole’s young son Archie.
She said: “The isolation of Covid was very hard for both of them, neither of them could leave the apartment that they were so worried about catching it.
“Carole had to give up her job five years ago to look after him, it was very hard.
“Carole’s 13-year-old son Archie has lost his stepfather, he is crushed and sometimes he is inconsolable.”

‘Their wedding was just two years ago – it’s heartbreaking’
Now in the wake of Colin’s death, Christina is determined to go the extra mile to commemorate him and has started a GoFundMe to raise money for his funeral.
She said: “I organized their wedding two years ago and now I’m organizing his funeral – it’s heartbreaking.
“The cost of funerals is high, that’s silly to say, but it’s only going to happen once, and we want to give him a good dispatch.”
