“Dancing with the Stars” cast member Artem Chigvintsev has been arrested on domestic violence charges, according to Napa County Jail records in California.
The 42-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning shortly before 10 a.m. and charged under California Penal Code Section 273.5(a), which makes it illegal to injure a spouse, domestic partner or other relative in an act of domestic violence.
His bail was set at $25,000, according to jail records.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Department shared Chigvintsev’s mugshot and told ABC News they received a call around 10 a.m. about a domestic violence in Yountville.
Napa County sheriff’s officers arrived minutes later and arrested Chigvintsev. They said he did not resist arrest and was booked into the Napa County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence.
After being released on bail, he was released around 2:15 p.m. PT and is no longer in custody. Sheriff’s deputies said he has been cooperative in the process.
The sheriff’s department has not released details about the identity of the alleged victim, but told ABC News it is giving the person “ample time to deal with what happened before having them speak further to detectives.”
They added that the alleged victim had provided initial information to deputies.
Chigvintsev is married to former WWE wrestler Nikki Garcia, although it is unclear who the offense was committed against. The two have one child, Matteo, who is 4 years old.
The Russian-born dancer has appeared in 12 seasons of “Dancing with the Stars” to date.
He won the Mirrorball Trophy on Season 29 alongside “Bachelorette” alum Kaitlyn Bristowe and most recently competed with “Bachelorette” alum Charity Lawson on Season 32, finishing fourth.
Chigvintsev and Garcia competed together on season 25 of “Dancing with the Stars” and tied the knot in August 2022.
The couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary just days ago, with Garcia sharing a video on Instagram of the day they said “I do” to the song “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
“This song is our love story. I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with Him “And God. How my feelings came too soon. Everything happened too fast,” she wrote. “And then this song came. And that’s when I knew I was falling in love with him and everything was meant to be.”
“Happy birthday @theartemc I love you!” she concluded.
Chigvintsev also shared a post on Instagram, one featuring photos from their wedding, with the caption: “Happy anniversary my love, I can’t imagine my life without you. You are my everything.”
ABC, which airs “Dancing with the Stars,” had no comment on the arrest.
“Good Morning America” has reached out to a representative for Garcia for comment.
