For more than 90 minutes on live television, the 2024 vice-presidential candidates, Republicans Senator JD Vance from Ohio and Democrat Governor Tim Walz from Minnesota, fought on a wide range of issues in the first and only vice-presidential debate campaign, hosted by CBS News. If you missed Tuesday night’s debate, you can rewatch the full broadcast in the video player above.

Both candidates were faced with questions of moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan spoke about the economy, immigration, abortion rights, the Middle East conflict, climate change, health care, the cost of housing and much more – and offered sometimes very different visions of the future of the nation.

Immediately after the debate, CBS News surveyed voters across the country who said they watched it to get their reaction. They were almost evenly split on who they thought would have won: 42% said Vance and 41% said Walz, while 17% considered it a tie. A large majority, 88%, believe that the tone of the debate was generally positive.
