Tiffany Henyard, the scandal-plagued Democratic mayor of Dolton, Illinois, suggested she would seek to shut down her political opponents, many of whom have expressed concerns about her lavish spending at taxpayers’ expense.
The embattled mayor, who also faces eviction from her rental home, has made national headlines over her alleged misuse of taxpayer funds, with former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot previously investigating about his extravagant spending habits.
“I will call for the arrest of those involved,” Henyard said in a rambling 90-minute video she posted Tuesday on Facebook.

“I’m going to file a complaint. It’s a lot. And this is just me telling you a little bit about it because all this pointing the finger at Tiffany – or lying to me – I’m done with it. He’s now time for me to speak, as I say, the truth speaks.
Henyard, who refers to himself as “super mayor” in the video, did not specify what crimes his opponents may have committed.
She used the social media platform after a Thornton Township meeting, which she also leads as supervisor, was canceled due to a lack of quorum as trustees raised security concerns regarding the location of the meeting. This is the second time in a row that the rally has been canceled, according to the Chicago Tribune.
She also blasted “fake news” regarding media coverage of her tenure and castigated dissident officials.

“Why is it with me and my life… can’t you hear my point of view? Y’all judge the only side of the narrative that exists in the world, but never hear from me… I’ve always been told …’if you want tea, take it from me, you must take it from the horse’s mouth.
Henyard has promised evidence of his opponents’ misdeeds in the past, launching a podcast and a brief national media tour, but has failed to deliver, according to WGNTV.
In her Facebook post, Henyard claims that those making allegations against her are doing so to distract.
“Why are we having all this attention on Tiffany Henyard? What is it? [are] they do this, they don’t want us to know, while they [are] distract us here,” she asks.
Meanwhile, Henyard’s landlord tells Fox 32 Chicago that the mayor and her boyfriend Kamal Woods haven’t paid their rent since August and want them to leave.
The two men together take well over $300,000 from taxpayers, according to Fox 32 Chicago, citing public payroll.
Their landlord, Genetta Hull, said she was forced to raise the rent from $200 to $2,400 a month because her property taxes increased again, then Woods told her he couldn’t afford it. allow, according to the media.
Hull said Henyard and Woods refused to pay the extra rent in August and then stopped paying altogether, failing to deliver rent checks for September and October.
Hull said she was owed thousands of dollars while they also changed the locks and code on the garage door so she couldn’t get in, according to Fox 32. The owner filed a lawsuit for eviction against both men, but Cook County sheriffs tried and failed. serve the process both at home and in the village hall.
Hull told Fox 32 that she once considered Henyard a friend and did campaign work for her.
Henyard recently took to Facebook to announce that she would be running for a second term as Dolton mayor.
She was first elected mayor of Dolton, a south Chicago suburb, in 2021 after serving two terms as a trustee on the village board. She won the election overwhelmingly – with more than 80% of the vote.
Nicknamed by locals as “the worst mayor in America.” She earned this nickname after her tenure was plagued by controversy, including financial mismanagement.
Her re-election announcement comes as she leads a lawsuit against several village trustees, the Dolton Park District, the village clerk and the village trustee.

The legal dispute stems from a previous contentious village board meeting, which Henyard says violated procedures.
Meanwhile, Lightfoot’s investigation into the village of Dolton’s financial situation found in a preliminary report that Dolton’s general fund balance was $5.61 million in 2022, but as of May 2024, the balance had fallen to a deficit of $3.65 million.
Lightfoot also revealed that Henyard used the village credit card to make purchases at Amazon, Target, Walgreens, Wayfair and other retailers. A jaw-dropping statement revealed that the embattled mayor lost $33,000 on January 5, 2023 on Amazon.
