Doña Ana County Holds Interviews and Public Meetings for County Executive Position

The Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners will conduct interviews this weekend for the open county manager position.

The county recently announced four finalists for the position and the public is encouraged to participate in the process.

The County Board of Commissioners will host finalists for the county executive position for two days, August 9 and 10.

On August 9, the jury will conduct interviews in a private session from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Doña Ana County Government Center. Then, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., each finalist will present a 15-minute presentation in a public session.

  • 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. – Scott Andrews

  • 4:20 p.m. to 4:35 p.m. – Barbara Bencomo

  • 4:40 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. – Stephen Lopez

  • 5:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. – Mark Tyner

On August 10, two community meetings will be held throughout the county. Residents are encouraged to submit questions to candidates in advance via the county website. All questions will be reviewed by county commissioners and considered during the interview process.

The first meeting will be held at the Doña Ana County Government Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be a question and answer session from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a meet and greet.

The second meeting will be held at Doña Ana County No. 2 in Anthony from 1-3 p.m. with a question-and-answer session from 1-2:30 p.m.

The county hopes to identify a candidate to move forward at its Aug. 13 meeting with possible contract approval by the end of August.
