This is the dramatic moment a bus caught fire on a busy Salford road.
The fire broke out on a single-decker bus on Liverpool Road in the Peel Green area of Eccles at around 9.30pm last night (July 22). Video footage showed huge flames and plumes of smoke billowing from the rear of the vehicle as passers-by looked on.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and used hose reels to extinguish the fire. They “secured the area” and then left the scene after about an hour.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus involved was a Diamond service. The driver reportedly managed to get out of the vehicle without incident, although there were apparently no passengers on board.
Footage on social media also showed a cordon set up on Liverpool Road, near The Grapes pub, as police also responded.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 9.30pm last night (Monday 22 July), two fire engines from Stretford and Eccles fire stations were called to a vehicle fire involving a single-decker bus on Liverpool Road, Eccles.
“Crews arrived quickly and used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters secured the area before leaving after approximately one hour on scene.”
