“The investigation is ongoing, but on its face, this does not appear to be a random act of violence,” District Attorney Timothy Cruz said.
A Fall River man was stabbed to death in a Brockton park Saturday night, authorities said.
The suspect was arrested and placed under arrest, Plymouth County Prosecutor Timothy Cruz said in a statement.
Brockton police received multiple reports around 6 p.m. detailing the stabbing, Cruz said. When police arrived at the scene, in the park at the intersection of Crescent and Montello streets, they found the victim, who died of his injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cruz said.
The statement identified the victim as Edmar Goncalves, 39, of Fall River.
Johnny Richmond, 36, was arrested, Cruz said in the statement.
“The investigation is ongoing, but at first glance, this does not appear to be a random act of violence,” Cruz said.
