Father and daughter stabbed to death when a man was arrested in Cambs

A 52-year-old man remains in police custody after being arrested in Cambridgeshire following the murder of a man and woman in north London.

Sunday, November 28 at At 9.37am, police were called to a property in Mayes Roads, N22, London, after concerns were raised about the welfare of residents.

Earlier that morning, Cambridgeshire Police had been called for reports of a man behaving suspiciously in Huntingdon.

While talking to officers, the 52-year-old man made comments that prompted Met officers to visit the property in Mayes Road.

Upon arrival, they found two people – a 61-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman – with stab wounds.

The London Ambulance Service was called and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that an autopsy will take place in due course and have issued a statement stating: “While the formal identification has yet to take place, we are convinced that the deceased are father and daughter.

“Their relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialists”.

The 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody at a police station in north London.

An investigation is being conducted by homicide detectives from Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

Detective Inspector Claire Hine, who is leading the investigation, said: “This incident has taken the life of a father and daughter.

“Our thoughts are with their loved ones when they come to terms with such an incredible loss. We provide and will continue to give them the support we can.

“We believe the victims and the man in custody were known to each other and while the investigation is still in its early stages, I am convinced that we are not looking for further suspects and that there is no lasting risk to members of the public. . in the area.

“I would ask anyone who heard anything unusual or witnessed suspicious behavior near Mayes Road, either this weekend or at any other time, to contact police.

“Information that helps us build a picture of what has happened in this case can be very important.”
