On his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has discussed Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his decision not to make a single replacement against Manchester United this weekend.
Guardiola has been involved in some tough Manchester derbies during his time in the Premier League, but on Saturday morning his City team put the Red Devils aside at an absolute gallop.
City barely got out of second gear and Guardiola did not feel the need to make a single sub at the weekend.
What has been said?
Ferdinand believes Guardiola almost mocked United at the weekend by not turning to his bench.
“It was a complete mockery of Man United, he mocks us. Normally teams need to make subs and have to settle things against you, but it says we find it easy against you and that you are not a threat. It is almost as big a disrespect as you can get, you can just sit down and relax and my 11 will just handle you a lot, ”Ferdinand said.
Ferdinand says Guardiola mocked United for not making a replacement, but why should he make a change when it is not necessary?
His team was able to beat United with ease and it’s hard to pinpoint where a sub was needed.
Guardiola’s pages are well-oiled machines, and if he felt it was the best 11 available to him, then why should he change it if he was not under any pressure?
Guardiola did not mock Ole Gunnar Solskjær or Manchester United, the Red Devils simply made it too easy for him and his team.
