Go Fund Me has started

A Go Fund Me fundraiser has been launched. Kylie Hall said: “As most of you have sadly seen, Asian Wok in Chirk was hit by a devastating fire tonight 26/07/2024 which completely destroyed the roof area as seen in the photo above. Sadly the damage to the shop is unknown at this time but the cost of rebuilding and reopening is sadly going to cost a fortune. Even if it’s a pound, please help in any way you can and if you can’t donate, please share.”

‘My heart breaks for them’

Social media pages were flooded with messages of support for the owners and staff.

One person said: “I’m so glad no one got hurt, my heart breaks for them all.”

Another added: “I am so sad that my prayers are with the family that they can get back to business as soon as possible and I pray that the Chirk community will come together to support the family. I know that when I lost my home in a fire in 2007, the community I lived in on Merseyside helped me get back on my feet and get back to normality.”

Everything is fine and safe

Jason Williams, a local resident, said everyone had escaped safely from the takeaway restaurant. He added that no one was injured but the staff were in shock.
