Vice President-elect JD Vance is the favorite to win the 2028 presidential election, followed by former first lady Michelle Obama, according to odds released Wednesday by two major bookmakers.
This happened after Donald Trump won the election on Tuesday with at least 292 electoral college votes. That figure is expected to rise as the Associated Press reports that Trump is also leading in the key states of Michigan, Nevada and Arizona and is on track to win the popular vote for the first time.
British bookmaker Betfair offers 7/2 odds for Vance (22.2%) to win the 2028 presidential election, ahead of Michelle Obama at 4/1 (20%) and California Governor Gavin Newsom at 11/2 (15.4%).
They are followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 9/1, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at 11/1 (8.3%), Tucker Carlson at 12/1 (7.7%), former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard at 14/1 (6.7%). percent) and Oprah Winfrey at 20/1 (4.8 percent).
News week contacted the offices of Michelle and Barack Obama and the Trump-Vance campaign for comment via an online request form and email, respectively.
Talk to News weekBetfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “The odds of Kamala Harris making a return for the 2028 campaign are 40/1 (2.4%), but eyes are on a familiar name for Democrats. Michelle Obama is 4/1 to be the 2028 US president.
“Trump’s number two, JD Vance, is the 7/2 favorite to take his place in the Oval Office in 2028.”
Bookmaker William Hill has the same top four as favorite to win the 2028 presidential election, with Vance leading 3/1 (25%). He is followed by Obama at 5/1 (16.7%), Newsom at 11/2 (15.4%) and DeSantis at 8/1 (11.1%).
William Hill spokesman Lee Phelps said Trump won a “landslide victory” over Harris.
“As Trump cannot run for a third term in 2028 due to the terms of the US Constitution, we are making his Vice President, JD Vance, the early favorite to win the 2028 US election, at a price of 3/1” , Phelps said.
“As Democrats lick their wounds after a night of heartbreaking results, Michelle Obama, wife of former President Barack Obama, is 5/1 to return Democrats to power in four years.
“Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, has a slightly longer 11/2 chance of meeting the Republican challenge and turning things around.”
Due to the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which imposes a two-term limit on presidents, Trump will no longer be eligible to serve as president. The only way around this problem would be to amend the Constitution, a process far more difficult than passing standard legislation.
Trump’s second administration could include several of his most prominent supporters, including billionaire businessman Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who ran against him as an independent before dropping out of the race .
