Forest Gate: Suspect wanted after Pride flags vandalized again

A police spokesman said they had examined CCTV in the area, conducted door-to-door inquiries and carried out forensic investigations. No arrests had been made.

The June and July incidents are being treated as linked.

Detective Inspector Rush said: “We support the local LGBTQ+ community.

“We are committed to continuing our thorough investigation and attempting to identify the perpetrator, who we believe is the same person who committed the damage in June at the same location.

“The Met is clear that there is no place for hate in London and my team is already working at pace to complete all investigations.

“I want to speak directly to the local community of Forest Gate. Someone knows who this person is. Please do the right thing and notify the police, or, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers.”

Caron Harrison, Co-Founder of Forest Gayte Pride, externalsaid: “Once again, the LGBTQI+ community in Forest Gate and beyond is appalled by the defacing of our flags.

“We have received an outpouring of love and support from our many allies and we hope that this person will be arrested and brought to justice.

“They can try to intimidate us and paint over our flags, but they can’t paint over our pride.”
