Daniel Burrell was arraigned in Nantucket District Court on Friday on a warrant issued by the justice court, according to court records.

A former senior adviser to John Kerry’s presidential campaign was arrested Friday on Nantucket on a warrant issued by Las Vegas following the sale of his foreclosed mansion on the island, multiple media reports said.

Daniel Burrell was arraigned in Nantucket District Court on Friday on a warrant issued by the justice court. He was ordered to be held in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail, which was set at $10,000 cash.

Burrell, a private equity businessman and former Huffington Post contributor, served on the Clinton administration’s Domestic Policy Council from 2000 to 2001, according to his HuffPost biography. He advised Kerry on his 2002 Senate campaign and his 2004 presidential campaign.

The Nantucket Current According to the Current newspaper, Nevada authorities are looking for Burrell after he allegedly wrote a $1.5 million bad check to a Las Vegas casino. In Colorado, he was already wanted after allegedly defaulting on more than $75 million in bank loans that he used for divorce payments, a yacht and luxury homes.

His Nantucket home on Brewster Road was built in 2015 and sold at public auction Thursday for $12,525,000, the owner said. Current reported.

The Denver Post Burrell has reportedly been sued by several banks over the past year over his financial situation. Alpine Bank said earlier this year that Burrell owed $18 million on an $18.5 million loan, and First Western sued him a few months earlier over a $56 million loan secured by other luxury homes.

Burrell is also being sued by U.S. Bank over a $3.5 million loan, Job reported.

After serving with Kerry — who is the Current Described as a friend of Burrell, the Yale-educated businessman until 2013 became the CEO of Rosemont Realty, a company linked to complaints involving President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. The funds were not linked to Hunter, according to the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

Burrell was remanded in custody Friday at the Nantucket Police Department until he posts bail or can be transferred to the Barnstable Correctional Facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for November.
