Jesus Moore, 35, took a minor across state lines for sex, the U.S. attorney in New Hampshire said.
A former Lawrence teacher faces new federal sexual assault charges, the U.S. attorney for New Hampshire said Monday.
Jesus Moore, 35, was charged with transporting a former student to New Hampshire to engage in unlawful sexual activity, U.S. Attorney Jane Young said. Moore was arrested in February after turning himself in to police in Manchester, New Hampshire.
He was charged with sexual assault in Manchester District Court in February. Court records for updates in the district court case were not immediately available Monday evening.
The incident occurred around March 7, 2022, Young said in a statement. The victim was under 18 at the time and a student at the school where Moore was employed, according to prosecutors.
Moore worked for Lawrence High School as a physical education teacher and boys basketball coach, Boston.com previously reported.
Moore appeared in court Monday. He was released on conditions, including not traveling outside of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, according to court documents.
Moore’s trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 1. Moore’s attorneys did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The minimum sentence for transporting a minor for the purpose of engaging in illegal sexual activity is 10 years in prison.
