Horror car crash kills four people as a truck smashes into a vehicle on a major highway

Four people have been killed in a horror crash after a semi-trailer smashed into a car in Warwick.

Early reports have said the car was T-boned by the truck.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on the New England Highway at around 5.30pm on Wednesday night.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said paramedics attended but were not needed at the scene as all the occupants of the car had died.

Police investigators are working to identify the people who were killed in the car.

Queensland Fire and Emergency services remain on scene and will work to remove the bodies.

Police have closed the northbound lanes near the intersection of Sawmill Road at The Summit in the Southern Downs in south-east Queensland.

The Queensland Police Service said a diversion for northbound traffic will be put in place via Granite Belt Drive.

Delays will be extensive and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Police have asked that witnesses, especially those with dashcam footage capturing the moments leading up to and including the crash, come forward.
