French Diver Jules Bouyer Responds to Comments About His Body – NBC Chicago

French diver Jules Bouyer has a message for those who make inappropriate comments about his body on social media.

The 22-year-old finished fifth in the men’s synchronised 3m springboard event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, alongside partner Alexi Jandard. But it wasn’t just his dive that made waves.

Onlookers at the event quickly took to social media to point out a moment when Bouyer stood sideways and his costume appeared particularly full.

Bouyer reportedly said that while he wasn’t bothered by his newfound social media fame, he wanted people to focus more on his athleticism and be warned about the impact it could have on other athletes in the future.

“If people find it funny to look at my pants, that’s their problem. I found it funny,” he said, according to Reuters. “But you have to remember that it can take the athlete out of their bubble and it can hurt. That wasn’t the case for me. It was more fun. I’d rather people look at my dives than my briefs, but there’s nothing to worry about.”

Bouyer is expected to compete again in the men’s 3-meter springboard on Tuesday.
