Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters attended the scene in west London after reports of a chemical incident at a block of flats.

A man living in a first floor flat in a five-storey block of flats on Landridge Road in Fulham was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service following the incident in the early hours of this morning.

Three other residents are being treated on site.

Teams wearing breathing apparatus helped residents of the block evacuate the property.

The incident is now over but the cordon remains in place

The chemical incident is now over, London Fire Brigade said – although a security cordon remains in place.

A total of five people required treatment, including one who was in an apartment on the first floor of the five-story building and was taken to hospital.

The green light was given at 5:56 a.m.

Where is the building located?

Landridge Road is located in Fulham, west London, roughly equidistant from Putney Bridge and Parsons Green tube stations.

“This is a long-standing incident”

Speaking at the scene, station commander Graham Crow said: “This is a prolonged incident and crews will remain on scene for a number of hours.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area to avoid traffic jams.”

The LFS was called at 12:35 a.m., Mr. Crow said.

Firefighters from Fulham, Wandsworth, Euston, Bethnal Green, Hammersmith, Kensington, Battersea and Chiswick fire stations are in attendance.

The cause of the incident is not known at this stage.
