Gymnastics, rugby, surfing and more – NBC Chicago

The 2024 Paris Olympics have seen plenty of medals awarded, but the competition is about to heat up even more, with big appearances and early medal chances from Simone Biles and others on Team USA.

Below are the major events taking place on Tuesday and how to watch them.

Gymnastic

Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee and the rest of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team will get their first chance at the podium on Tuesday.

The team advances to the final phase of the team event in the women’s gymnastics all-around competition.

Live coverage begins at 11:15 a.m. CT on NBC 5. The event will be rebroadcast in prime time, which begins at 7 p.m. CT.

Swimming

After a day of big medals, including one won by Chicago-area swimmer Ryan Murphy, more swimming medals will be up for grabs in some big races.

Coverage of the morning events will air at 8:45 a.m. CT on NBC 5, with final coverage of the events beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT. The events will be rebroadcast in prime time, beginning at 7 p.m. CT.

3×3 basketball

The men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams will begin their quest for gold in Paris on Tuesday.

Both are considered medal favourites in the event, but will face tough competition if they are to succeed.

Coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. CT on NBC 5.

Rugby

The United States women’s rugby team will have a chance to make history Tuesday in Paris, but they will face a tough road if they are to bring home a medal from the competition.

The Americans took a big step toward that goal on Monday with their win over Great Britain, but things won’t get any better on Tuesday on the tournament’s final day.

Coverage begins at 8:30 a.m. CT on USA and 10 a.m. on NBC 5. Bronze and gold medal coverage begins at 12:00 p.m. CT on E!

Surfing

Surfers competing at the Paris Games compete in Tahiti, an island in French Polynesia located about 15,800 kilometers from Paris. The sport is relatively new to the Olympics, having made its debut at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.

But Gabriel Medina has already made waves, with his epic photo being a huge success at the Olympic event.

The events will be rebroadcast in prime time, starting at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Other things to watch out for

Several other major events will take place Tuesday, including several featuring athletes from the Chicago area.

Men’s volleyball and men’s soccer are among the teams where local athletes will compete on Tuesday.
