Halsey was forced to abruptly cancel their Maryland concert Wednesday night after a storm flooded the venue and drenched fans.
Heartbroken concertgoers waited for the singer to show up at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia after the show was initially delayed when the National Weather Service issued tornado and flood warnings at around 8 p.m.
As fans patiently waited for Halsey, 27, to start after being told the concert would resume, the gig ended up being canceled at 10 p.m. — three hours after its planned start time.
The pop star tweeted moments after the cancellation, “Right now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I just want to know when/that you all get home safely. I love you guys more than anything.”
On Twitter, concertgoers shared videos of water flooding the venue as many were forced to seek refuge in the bathrooms while the storm passed.
In a video of a group of people crowded in the bathroom, fans were seen dripping water from head to toe.
“We had to hide in the bathrooms at Merriweather for a damn tornado warning,” one fan tweeted alongside the video.
Another video shared by a concertgoer showed heavy floodwater pouring from the ceiling, while a third clip showed either a venue staffer or member of Halsey’s team kicking a rogue rodent off the stage toward fans standing in the pit.
“Halsey’s team went all out with the special effects for this tour,” another fan quipped.
Other videos shared online showed the floodwater completely overtaking the seating area, as concertgoers desperately tried to lift themselves up on the seats to avoid being drenched.
The venue also tweeted news of the cancellation, writing, “The Halsey show will not be happening due to weather-related technical difficulties. Please keep an eye out for an email from Ticketmaster for more info, or refer to your point of purchase.”
The venue — which holds around 19,000 people for various gigs and shows — often sees stars perform on its stage. Next month, Dierks Bentley, Jimmy Buffett and Third Eye Blind are set to perform there.
The Post has reached out to the venue and Halsey’s reps for further comment.
